Here is the different generations of the iPad.
The iPad Wi-Fi only model was the first iPad to be released (April 3, 2010) Although identical to the later released Wi-Fi + 3G version it can only access the internet via a Wi-Fi connection.
The iPad Wi-Fi + 3G is the second to be released iPad that uses Wi-Fi or 3G mobile data connection to browse the internet, load and stream media, and install software.
