Here is the different generations of the iPod Touch.

The 3rd Generation iPod Touch has been upgraded to include RAM, CPU and GPU internal from the iPhone 3GS. A larger storage size of 64GB and iOS 4 support.
The 2nd Generation features a new tapered chrome back and built-in speaker. Support for Bluetooth, External Microphone and remote was added. iOS 4 was made available for the 2nd Generation iPod Touch.
The iPod Touch was the first iPod with Wi-Fi access and multi-touch interface. Features a safari web browser and wireless access to the iTunes Store and Youtube. a 32GB version was later added.
